Course Dates
FIRST Steps (Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training) is designed for new shooters. This course provides hands-on orientation to the students' personally owned shotgun (however, if the student does not own a shotgun, one will be provided for training) in as little as three hours, including a one-hour range session. 3-4 hours  
Basic Course The NRA Basic Firearm Course teaches students the principles of safe handling and shooting. The learning objectives of the course include, but are not limited to:
  • firearm parts and their operation
  • ammunition and its function
  • shooting fundamentals
  • how to select, clean, and store a firearm
  • review of various activities available to further shooting skills
